NO MARKETING HYPE, JUST SCIENCE
Isn't it often that you go to the store and buy a matcha, look at the price and think, "Umm yeah this must be premium, it writes Matcha". But once you bought that expensive one and take it at home and taste it, it's not as good as it's advertised.
Well, I do. It's because I'm tired with the hype that I went to a journey on finding the best type of matcha for daily drink.
WHAT DO PEOPLE LOOK
FOR IN A MATCHA?
As an avid drinker of matcha and green tea, I understand what people actually look for in a matcha in general. It's not the Made in Japan tag or even Uji. As a real matcha drinker, what we want from a matcha are these 3 simple criterias :-
Taste (I know you're thinking Umami)
Health Benefits (EGCG I'm looking at you)
Price Point (Let's face it)
THE TASTEBUD NEEDS SERVICE!
I don't know about you, but I'm that type of guy whose hand is always with a glass of green tea. We call this type of people Matchsters. This is because some people uses drinks as their means to 'relieve stress' and go about their daily lives. Some people prefer coffee, some prefer sweeter drinks, but those who have had problems with his glycemic index (GI), would prefer something that is not sweet but not necessarily bitter as well.
So matcha falls a bit in between.... or not.
See, this is the issue that matchsters have. On one side we prefer to have matcha all the time, but on the other side, we know we want THAT matcha taste. THAT matcha that made you fall in love with the drink. THAT matcha that you've tasted back in Japan or in China.
But we have another problem...
Let's cut to the chase. We ain't Jeff Bezos nor we are Bill Gates. From the standpoint of a normal working citizen, I, as a matchster, understand that all we need is a consistent supply of matcha without breaking our wallet.
However, we have issues when we do our monthly budgeting. We allocate money for a premium matcha, but at times, we would have torn between spending on a real Uji Matcha(again), or should we save our money on the so-so matcha to buy pampers for our kids.
In this era of recession, we need to be frugal with money matters, but not to the point of sacrificing matcha, because.....
AGAIN. NO MARKETING HYPE, JUST SCIENCE
As an avid matchsters, we all know about how healthy matcha is. That was made us get into matcha in the first place. You can read all of these science facts about matcha.
But just one question,
DOES YOUR MATCHA CONTAIN THAT HEALTH BENEFITS PROVEN BY SCIENCE?
This is my main concern when I first bought my matcha. I'm not condemning Lipton or Boh, they gave me great services once upon the time. But those generic green teas are different in terms of health benefits from the real matcha. The difference is more than 40% it's not even a match. And there's a different between quality in the temperatures and freshness as well.
Thus, difference between 2 matchas are always about quality and taste. These are the ways to measure a matcha :-
As a matchsters, it's impossible for you to not know EGCG or its scientific name Epigallocatechin-3-gallate. This what gives most of Green Teas its health benefit including anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, antioxidant, and anti-stress.
The issue is that, no matcha is made equal in terms of its EGCG content. So most of the time, when we compromise on a cheap matcha, we will get less of this EGCG inside the matcha. Morever, there's no way that we would know how much EGCG we are getting in a single matcha anyway.
But only high in EGCG isn't enough. Rather, you have to make sure it's organic!
Outta my way Glyphosate!
I'll be honest with you, the 90% of the matcha I see out there in the shopping racks are not Organic.
Why is it so important that we have an organic matcha? Or even organic food in general?
Because the practice of using pesticide like glyphosate defeats the purpose of drinking and consuming a healthy foods and drinks.
Non-organic practices will increase your risk in getting cancer because glyphosate is proven to cause cancer and other health complications.
Imagine getting all the antioxidant and anti-cancer benefits just to be defeated by cancer-inducing substance inside the same matcha.
But there's one more that concern us, especially if you're a Muslim..
Don't know about you, but I am surrounded by people who don't even care about other religious matters, but when it comes to halal-certified, TOP!
We all understand why,
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!
The halal practice of producing foods and drinks is really important for Muslims. When I was in Japan, the Halal industry grew so much that Non-Muslim Japanese opened up a Halal Restaurant.
And Japan has the fastest growing Muslims-converts as we speak right now! Looking at their love for cleanliness and discipline, we all can understand why.
You have a matcha that combines all of these qualities in one single product.
The answer is YES.
After trials upon trials, I have managed to get the perfect matcha that has exactly all the three elements above. This is coming from a matchster who is enthusiastically a matcha fanatic.
Introducing to you....
Purecha is scientifically-proven to have high EGCG content with 33.2mg/g of EGCG.
We tested in a highly-regarded lab in Malaysia that is reliable in its testing and we have the test certificate to prove it.
MY PERFECT CHA
With PURECHA, I get High EGCG Ceremonial Grade Matcha Green Tea (32.2mg of EGCG) that is organic, tasty and halal. It just blew me out the first day that I tried it. Among all the other matchas that costs at least 3 times more, Purecha tasted on par with really minimal bitter, good umami and gives me the energy boost literally EVERY time I drink it.
Compared to many brands, I got a piece of mind knowing that this is Halal Certified and Organic despite being tasty and affordable. Yes, it is affordable...
